DUSHANBE, February 20, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Compared to January 2008 gross domestic product (GDP) in Tajikistan rose 3.5 percent in comparable prices last month, reaching 936.7 million somoni (equivalent to 249.8 million US dollars), according to the State Committee for Statistics.
In January 2009, production of goods amounted to 33.7 percent of GDP, services rendered to the population – 58 percent, and taxes – 8.3 percent.
We will recall that the government expects GDP to rise 7.1 percent this year, while, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects real GDP growth in Tajikistan to slow to 3 percent in 2009.
