DUSHANBE, February 23, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Railways has purchased 10 new gondola cars from the Russian Federation, Asia-Plus has learned from the deputy head of the logistics department within Tajik Railways, Zikriyo Malikov.
According to him, six of these gondola cars are expected to arrive in Dushanbe tomorrow. In all, Tajikistan intends to purchase some 100 different train cars both from Russia and other countries, including Ukraine, this year, Malikov said.
Tajikistan’s rolling-stock currently includes 1,761 cargo cars, 351 passenger carriages and 56 diesel locomotives.
