DUSHANBE, March 13, 2009, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon who is currently on a five-day tour of Iran on March 12 visited Sirjan, Kerman province, according to presidential press service.
The purpose of his one-day visit to Sirjan was to pave the ground for cooperation between Tajikistan and Sirjan special economic zone.
During his stay in Sirjan, President Rahmon visited vegetable oil plant, FRICO, marble-processing enterprise, sugar-producing plant, shoe factory, etc.
A special economic zone (SEZ) is a geographical region that has economic laws that are more liberal than a country''s typical economic laws. The category ''SEZ'' covers a broad range of more specific zone types, including Free Trade Zones (FTZ), Export Processing Zones (EPZ), Free Zones (FZ), Industrial Estates (IE), Free Ports, Urban Enterprise Zones and others. Usually the goal of a structure is to increase foreign investment.
According to the news agency Avesta, after Sirjan Tajik leader went to Kish, where he is expected to stay two days.
