KULOB, March 16, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Areas under cotton in five cotton-growing districts of Khatlon’s Kulob region have been reduced by more than 6,000 hectares this year, Hamrokhon Hoitov, a leading specialists with the Kulob agriculture directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, Kulob cotton farmers will plant cotton on 33,810 hectares this year. Last year, they planted cotton on 39,886 hectares.
In the Danghara district, areas under cotton have been reduced by 2,300 hectares, Hamadoni – by 2,100 hectares, Farkhor – by 1,405, Vose – 1,040 hectares, and Kulob – by 231 hectares,” Hoitov said.
