KHOROG, April 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The Shugnan district in Gorno Badakhshan has fulfilled the spring conscription target.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the chief of the GBAO military registration and enlistment office Zafar Davlatov said that the Shugnan district was the first in the region to fulfill the spring conscription target.  According to him, 57 recruits from the Shugnan district were sent to serve in the country armed forces on April 3.

“Overt the first two days of the spring conscription campaign, Gorno Badakhshan has reached 62 percent of the spring conscription target.  They are mainly recruits from the Shugnan, Rushan and Darvoz districts,” the GBAO chief recruitment officer said.

The military prosecutor of the Khorog garrison Farmonbek Sharipov noted that this year’s spring conscription campaign was better organized than the previous ones both in terms of appearance of conscripts at assembly units and their health condition.  “Of 62 conscripts from the Shugnan district that underwent medical examination on April 3, only five were sent to undergo a course of medical treatment, while others were sent to serve in the army,” the military prosecutor said.
