DUSHANBE, April 20, 2009, Asia-Plus -- On Monday April 20, a new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Tajikistan, Mr. Robert Kapetsky, presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon.
According to presidential press service, the two discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Czech Republic, including implementation of agreements that had been signed between the countries before.
They, in particular, exchanged views on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and the president noted that the present trade and economic cooperation did not correspondent to its real potential.
During the meeting, it was noted that the sides could also cooperate in rehabilitation and construction of hydropower plants in Tajikistan.
The sides also considered cooperation between Tajikistan and the Czech Republic within the framework of Tajikistan’s cooperation with the European Union (EU) and NATO, as well as within the framework of the United Nations. They also touched upon issues related to preparations for the forthcoming meeting the EU troika with Central Asian foreign ministers due in Dushanbe in May this year, the press service said.
