DUSHANBE, April 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The Dushanbe-based plant, Tajikteksilmash, has made major repairs to parts of two units of the Norak hydroelectric power station (HPS) and one of them is expected to be reinstalled at the station by May 20, Deputy Energy and Industries Minister, Poulod Muhiddinov, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 23.

“Earlier, parts of units had been sent for major repairs to Kharkov, Ukraine that had taken many time and funds,” said Muhiddinov, “At present Tajiktekslimash makes major repairs to the unit parts and we are quite satisfied with quality of work.”  According to him, repairs to parts of the second unit will be completed within the next few days.

He noted that repairs had allowed increasing the units’ capacity from 288 to 335 megawatt.  “The rated capacity of the Norak HPS is more than 3,000 megawatt, however, because of dilapidated units its actual capacity is now not more than 2,800 megawatt,” the deputy minister said.
