DUSHANBE, April 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The exchange rate of the US dollar against the somoni has shown an upward tendency in recent days and average buying and selling rates of the dollar in the country have been 1:4.085 and 1:4.105 respectively, information posted on website of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) yesterday said.
Average buying and selling rates of the Russian Ruble and the euro have also increased in recent days, reaching 1:0.1179 and 1:1203 for the Russian ruble and 1:5.1985 and 1:5.2019 for the euro.
According to the central bank, increasing demand for the dollar and increase in its exchange rate in the country are connected with changes of sales opportunities and conditions in international financial and commodity markets.
However, this tendency is a short-term and correction of supply and demand is currently to be observed in the domestic currency market that will promote stabilization of the exchange rate, the NBT said.
