DUSHANBE, May 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics has ranked Tajikistan 6th among the CIS states in terms of industrial production decrease over the first quarter of this year.

Over the report period, industrial production in Tajikistan has fallen by 8.2 percent compared to the same period of last year, according the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics.

In January-March 2009, the largest industrial production fall has been reported in Ukraine – 31.9 percent.  Ukraine is followed by Moldova, where decline in industrial production has been estimated at 24.2 percent.

In Kyrgyzstan and Russia, industrial production falls have been 19.5 percent and 14.3 percent respectively.

In Kazakhstan, industrial production has fallen 4.6 percent, Belarus – 4.5 percent, and Azerbaijan – 2.2 percent.

The only CIS state, where industrial production has increased over the report period, is Uzbekistan.  In Uzbekistan, industrial production over the same three-month period has increased by 9.9 percent compared to January-March 2008.

The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics does not have industrial production rates for Georgia and Turkmenistan in its report.
