DUSHANBE, May 7, 2009, Asia-Plus -- On May 6, Director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA), Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, met with German Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tajikistan, Ms. Doris Hertrampf.
According to the DCA press service, a ceremony of handover of police operational equipment to the counternarcotics agency on behalf of the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany was held at the DAC headquarters yesterday. Items presented are intended for strengthening of fight against international organized drug-related crime.
Speaking at the handover of the operational equipment to the DCA, Tajik drug control chief expressed gratitude to German diplomat for technical assistance and highly appraised the level of cooperation between the DCA, German special services and the German Embassy in Dushanbe in combating illicit drug trafficking.
For her part, Ms. Hertrampf noted that German-Tajik cooperation has had positive development in recent years and highly appraised efforts of the Agency to combat drug trafficking. She noted that the European Union was seeking expansion of cooperation with Central Asia’s states, including Tajikistan, in that direction, according to the DCA press service.
