DUSHANBE, May 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Pakistani Culture Center has opened at Tajik National University.

According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), the center has been opened with support of the Pakistani Embassy in Dushanbe.  The center was opened at the end of last week.

The Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov noted that that initiative of the Pakistani Embassy promoted development of culture and education in Tajikistan and expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

The Pakistani Center is provided with the up-to-date equipment and has good scientific literature and fiction that will give teachers and students at Tajik National University an opportunity to familiarize themselves with literature and culture of Pakistan.

According to a MoE, more than 140 students from Tajikistan were sent to Pakistan from 1994 to 2008 to study various disciplines.  In the meantime, 26 students from Pakistan currently study at Tajik universities.  This year, the government of Pakistan has increased the quota for Tajik students studying Urdu language to six.
