KHUJAND, May 26, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The second phase of distribution of food packages to pregnant women has started in the northern Sughd province.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Habibullo Muhiddinov, the public affairs officer, the Community and Basic Health Project (CBHP), said the second phase of distribution of food packages to pregnant women in the province was launched on May 20. “The food packages have already been distributed to pregnant women in Khujand, Qairoqqum, Chkalovsk as well as Asht and Mastchoh districts,” he said, adding that during the first phase, 20,000 women had received the food packages.
The food packages for undernourished women receiving prenatal care delivery in primary health centers (PHC) in Sughd and Khatlon provinces include 3 kilograms of fortified white wheat flour, 3 liters of refined sunflower oil and 3 kilograms of white granulated sugar each.
