KHUJAND, May 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The Konibodom-based open joint-stock company (OJSC) Bodom is seeking support of partner from Kazakhstan to come out of the economic crisis.

“We plan to come out of the economic crisis already in the second half of this year with support of our business partners from Kazakhstan,” the Bodom director general Ravshanbek Turumov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.  According to him, the enterprise will develop its capacities gradually.  “Our Kazakh partners are currently preparing a package of orders for melting ore and producing specific metal,” the director general said.

Bodom is currently in a very serious situation.  It now operates at only 20 percent of its capacities, carrying out orders for production of advertising panels, metallic doors fences, etc.  Only 50 workers and engineers currently work with the enterprise.

Earlier, Bodom had produced spare parts for break systems of GAZ vehicles by orders from Russia’s motor works GAZ in Nizhniy Novgorod.  “The fall in demand for spare parts has seriously affected the enterprise,” said Turunov, “Today, we are starting shipment of only 100,000 somoni worth of spare parts to Russian partners.”
