DUSHANBE, May 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The Drug Control Agency (DCA) burned more than 1,155 kilograms of narcotics at the Dushanbe-based plant Tajiktekstilmash today morning. A total included 122 kilograms of heroin, 402 kilograms of raw opium and 597 kilograms of cannabis.
The burnt drugs were confiscated by Tajik law enforcement authorities in the course of 2008-2009 and were material evidences on 98 criminal cases.
Major part of these narcotics was seized by the DCA officers and the burning was timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the counter narcotics agency in Tajikistan, which is marked on June 1.
