DUSHANBE, June 1, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Since Friday afternoon, an average exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD) against the somoni (TJS) has amounted to 1:4.35 in Dushanbe.  In some currency exchange office the exchange rate of USD against TJS is set at 1:4.40.

In the meantime, an official exchange rate of the somoni against the dollar set by the National Bank of Tajikistan has increased from 4.4537:1 on Friday morning to 4.3743:1.

According to the central bank, due to increasing demand for national currency an average exchange rate of the dollar against the somoni in the inter-bank and intra-bank segments of the domestic currency market has decreased from 1:4.52 to 1:4.35.
