DUSHANBE, June 4, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A seminar formally titled “Methods of Drying Apricots” is being held in the farming unit, Shirin, in Khatlon’s Jomi district today, according to press service of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Participants in the seminar, organized by a MoA, Tajikistan’s Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Khatlon agriculture directorate, are discussing technologies of growing apricots, processing them and apricot drying technologies as well as methods to combat pests.
The seminar has been conducted by specialists from the Institute of Horticulture at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the State Unitary Enterprise, Plant Protection and Chemicalization of Agriculture.
Over the first three months of this year, Tajikistan has exported more than 34 tons of dried fruits, which is 12,000 tons more than in the same period of last year. Tajik dried fruits are exported primarily to Russia and Ukraine.
