DUSHANBE, June 10, 2009, Asia-Plus -- An average fall in industrial production volumes for the CIS over the first four months of this year has amounted to 16 percent compared to the same period of last year, the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics reported.
In Tajikistan, the industrial production volumes over the report period have fallen by 11.9 percent.
The worst decline has been reported in Ukraine – 31 percent, which is followed by Moldova, where the industrial production volumes have fallen by 25.7 percent.
Kyrgyzstan has seen a 15.6 percent fall in the industrial production volumes in January-April this year, Russia – a 14.9 percent fall, Armenia – an 11.1 percent fall, and Belarus – a 4.8 percent fall.
Over the report period, the industrial production growth has been reported in Azerbaijan – 0.5 percent.
The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics does not have industrial production rates for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in its report.
Transportation rates have also fallen significantly in the majority states of the CIS over the report period. The worst decline has been reported in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova – 76.4, 67.7 and 36.8 percent fall respectively compared to January-April 2008, according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics. In January-April 2009, transportation rates have increased only in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan – by 7.9 and 6.4 percent respectively compared to the same period of last year
