DUSHANBE, June 10, 2009, Asia-Plus - The anti-drug operation, dubbed Poppy-2009, is going on in the country.
According to press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA), they officers seized more than 15 kilograms of narcotics in an operation carried out in Dushanbe on June 8. When searching a minivan belonging to local resident H.S., the drug control officers found 12 packages containing more than 11 kilograms of raw opium and five packages containing 4.319 kilograms of hashish.
The detainee said that he had purchased narcotics from Afghan national, the press service said. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against H.S. and an investigation is under way.
