KHUJAND, June 16, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate seized more than 100 kilograms of heroin today early in the morning.

The source at the Sughd counternarcotics directorate told Asia-Plus today that they received anonymous phone call today early in morning, at around 1:30 a.m., that two persons try to transport a large amount of narcotics from the Qistaquz jamoat in the Bobjonghafurov district to neighboring Kyrgyzstan.”  “When the drug control officers tried to detain the drug traffickers, they left narcotics and escaped,” the source said.

A bicycle and four bags with 100 packages containing 100.398 kilograms of heroin were found on the spot.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
