DUSHANBE, June 16, Asia-Plus -- On the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Yekaterinburg, Russia, President Emomali Rahmon yesterday afternoon met there with his Pakistani counterpart, President Asif Ali Zardari, according to presidential press service.
In the course of the talks, the sides expressed satisfaction with present level of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan and pointed to the necessity of further expansion of mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
Both presidents expressed readiness for expansion of bilateral cooperation in sectors like transport, communications and energy, including implementation of the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA 1000).
Rahmon and Zardari also expressed interest in construction of automotive road and railway link connecting Tajikistan and Pakistan, the press service said.
