DUSHANBE, June 30, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the counternarcotics agency have seized 388 grams of heroin at the Dushanbe airport on Monday, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press service.
One of passengers on the flight Dushanbe-Yekaterinburg (Russia), the 23-year-old resident of the Varzob district, was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
He was travelling to Yekaterinburg with drugs in his stomach. The peddler had ingested 50 wraps of narcotic that tested positive to heroin weighing more than 388 grams.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 200, Part 3 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
