KHUJAND, July 13, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A meeting of Latvian entrepreneurs with their Tajik colleagues was held at the Kokhi Roudaki in Khujand on sidelines of trip of visiting Latvian President Valdis Zatlers to the northern Sughd province.
During the meeting, Latvian entrepreneurs noted that they would like to deliver Western type vehicles to the province and purchase local mineral raw materials.
The Latvian delegation at the meeting consisted of 27 businesspeople and was led by director of the Latvian Agency for Investments and Development, Mr. Andris Ozols.
Latvian entrepreneurs participating in the meeting represented some 20 Latvian companies and firms working in sectors like civil aviation, construction, waste recycling, canned fish and dairy product production, providing financial services, and metal working. They presented a package of business proposals.
Latvian businesspeople, in particular, expressed interest in delivering Western type cars, participating in tourism development projects in Tajikistan, arranging production of frame houses here, as well as delivering parts of infrastructure of highways and equipment for show-business.
For their part, Sughd entrepreneurs offered the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of aviation and automotive industries and briefed their Latvian colleagues on prospects of the free economic zone (FEZ) “Sughd” that had been established in Khujand.
