QURGHON TEPPA, July 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- In January-June 2009, Khatlon province has produced a total of 673.7 million somoni (TJS) worth of industrial goods, which is 1.6 million somoni more than in the same period of 2008, Khatlon governor Ghaybullo Avzalov announced at a press conference in Qurghon Teppa on July 16.
“Production of salt, wheat flour, bitumen and textile goods has increased this year,” said the governor, “The hydroelectric power plant Sangtuda-1 and the Shar-Shar tunnel will be introduced into operation in the second-half of 2009.”
Avzalov noted that 18 new small and large enterprises that had been introduced into operation over the first six months of this year had created more than 580 new jobs.
According to him, 234 industrial enterprises now operate in the province, which is 21 enterprises more than last year.
