DUSHANBE, July 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Outgoing US Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Tracey Ann Jacobson, conferred here yesterday with Minister of Interiors Abdurahim Qahhorov at the end of her tenure to Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

In the course of the talks, Tajik minister highly appraised the level of cooperation between a MoI and the US Embassy in Dushanbe, noting that the cooperation had expanded with appointment of Ms. Jacobson to the post of US Ambassador to Tajikistan.

During the meeting, Qahhorov also briefed Ms. Jacobson on the present crime situation in Tajikistan and measure taken by Tajik law enforcement authorities to fight terrorism and organized crime.  He also expressed gratitude for technical assistance provided by the US Government to the Tajik MoI.

For her part, Ms. Jacobson expressed gratitude to the minister for high level of cooperation and expressed hope that that level of cooperation would be kept in the future as well.
