DUSHANBE, July 28, 2009, Asia-Plus -- As of July 1, 2009, Tajikistan’s investment portfolio included 56 projects for a total amount of 7.3 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.66 billion US dollars), Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), Farrukh Hamraliyev, told journalists in Dushanbe on July 27.
According to him, borrowings account for 74.2 percent of the investment portfolio, grants account for 15.2 percent and the remaining 10.6 percent are budgetary funds.
Over the first six months, 626.2 million somoni (more than US$ 142.6 million) of credit funds have been disbursed, Hamraliyev said, noting that Tajikistan has attracted 1.5 billion somoni (some US$342 million) in investments over the report period. In all, 1.5 billion US dollars are expected to be attracted for development of the country’s economy through 2009, he added.
