DUSHANBE, August 12, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Sughd police have seized a large amount of narcotic drug.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the 40-year-old resident of the Hissor district Emomali Davlatov was detained in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. Some 33 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Davlatov and an investigation is under way.
Over the first seven months of this year, Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized 3,212 kilograms of narcotics, including 777.702 kilograms of heroin and 551.845 kilograms of raw opium.
