KHUJAND, September 3, 2009, Asia-Plus - Officers from the department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) within the Sughd police directorate have seized more than 405.725 kilograms of narcotics since the beginning of this year, which is 138 kilograms more than in the same period of 2008, Nasim Olimov, the chief of the information analysis unit at the Sughd drug police department said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
A totaled included 135 kilograms of heroin, 10.27 kilograms of raw opium, 260.069 kilograms of hashish and 38.65 kilograms of other narcotics.
140 criminal proceedings have been instituted this year on drug-trafficking charges, Olimov said.
