DUSHANBE, September 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Interior Ministry directorate for combating drug trafficking (drug police) have seized a large amount of heroin in Dushanbe.
According to the Ministry Interior (MoI), an operation carried out by officers from drug police in Dushanbe on September 13 led to the arrest of the 44-year-old resident of Dushanbe Sharofiddin Gadoyev. More than 11 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Gadoyev under the provisions of Article 200 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
