KHUJAND, September 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Some 2,000 employees of local industrial enterprises may be sent to cotton plantations in the Sughd province this year, Asia-Plus has learned at the Sughd energy and industries directorate.
“Special commissions to coordinate the cotton-harvesting campaign in the province will be set up and local farming units needing additional manpower may apply to them,” said the source, “The commissions will send their applications to industrial enterprises and teams will be set up from employees of the enterprises to work in cotton plantations in shifts.”
According to him, 2,000 employees of 223 local industrial enterprises were involved in the cotton-harvesting campaign last year.
