DUSHANBE, September 15, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A meeting of the coordination council of heads of competent bodies from member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for combating drug trafficking was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on September 10.
According to the press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA), installation of the unified database having information on trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors was one of major topics of the meeting.
The meeting participants also considered issues related to combating illicit drug trafficking, preparing joint actions against transnational criminal drug-trafficking groups and their leader in the framework of the Operation, dubbed Channel, as well as coordinating mechanisms of participation of units of the financial intelligence services of member nations of the Eurasian group in countering legalization of criminal incomes and financing of terrorism within the framework of the mentioned Operation, the DCA press service said.
The counternarcotics agency heads also discussed issues of exchange of information and joint training of personnel.
DCA director Rustam Nazarov and the chief of the DCA operational department Halimjon Mahmoudov represented Tajikistan at the meeting.
