DUSHANBE, September 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- On Saturday September 19, the Russian Center of Russia''s Russkiy Mir (Russian World) National Foundation at Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe will host the country conference for Russian fellow-countrymen in Tajikistan entitled “Role and Tasks of Public Associations in Protecting Ethnoculture and Socioeconomic Rights of Fellow-countrymen,” according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe.
The conference is aiming to consider issues related to work carrying out to preserve the Russian language and national cultures and traditions of Russia’s ethnic groups, support socially vulnerable section of the population from among fellow-countrymen and veterans, as well as military-and-patriotic education of youth.
The conference is expected to consider and endorse regulations on the coordination council of Russian fellow-countrymen living in Tajikistan, elect its member from among heads of Russian communities and determine delegates from Tajikistan to the regional conference and the world congress of Russian fellow-countrymen that will be held in Moscow, the source said, noting that the main purpose of the conference is in promoting further consolidation of the Russian Diaspora in Tajikistan.
