DUSHANBE, September 19, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan has fulfilled its obligations under the agreement on electricity shipments to Uzbekistan in August-September 2009, supplying 406 million kWh of electrical power to the neighboring country.
We will recall that under the agreement singed between energy companies of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in early August, Tajikistan undertook to supply 500 million kWh of electrical power to Uzbekistan in August-September this year at 1.5 cents per 1 kWh.
Nozirjon Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik power holding, said that electricity deliveries to Uzbekistan were stopped in early September.
“Tajikistan has supplied 406 million kWh of electricity to Uzbekistan instead of the originally planned 500 million kWh over the report period because the Uzbek side has abandoned further electricity deliveries,” the spokesman said.
