QURGHON TEPPA, September 28, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Khatlon authorities intend to take measures to tackle the debt problem in the agrarian sector, Abdurahmon Qodiri, the deputy governor of Khatlon, remarked at a meeting with farmers in the Rumi district last Friday.
According to him, farming units in Rumi now owe considerable amounts to the Khatlon regional budget and water economy directorate. “In recent year, many farming units in the district have even failed to pay wages to farmers,” said the deputy governor, “Therefore, such farming units will be reorganized into individual and family farms.”
Qodiri charged the Rumi authorities to set up a special commission for carrying out reforms in the agrarian sector and submit all necessary materials and documents for reorganization of the insolvent farming units for consideration to the Khatlon government until November 1, this year.
