QURGHON TEPPA, September 28, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The Minister of Agriculture Qosim Qosimov has ordered gardeners from the Sughd province to assist their Khatlon colleagues with laying out gardens.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the head of the Khatlon agriculture directorate Sadullo Beknazarov said that all districts of northern Tajikistan had been charged to take one district in Khatlon under its patronage in order to assist with development of gardening in the area.
“Gardeners from Sughd arrive in Khatlon every three months and advise local farmers on gardening,” Beknazarov said, adding that specialists from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences will also assist Khatlon farmers with selection of high-yield fruit trees.
By president’s recommendation gardens will be laid out in each city and each district of Khatlon on an area of 1,000 hectares, the Khatlon agriculture directorate head said.
