DUSHANBE, October 3, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov has congratulated the 105-year-old veteran of the education sector Alisher Rouziyev on a Teacher’s Day, which is marked in Tajikistan on October 3.
According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), Alisher Rouziyev had worked with Tajik education sector of the country for more than 56 years. “Alisher Rouziyev’s contributions to the education sector have repeatedly been awarded with government decorations,” the source at a MoE said.
It is to be noted that Alisher Rouziyev’s wife, the 90-year-old Sabohat Ashourova, had worked within the education sector for 46 years.
The minister personally visited them at their home and gave them prize money and gifts, the source said.
According to the MoE data, more than 100,000 teachers now work with secondary schools and universities in Tajikistan.
