DUSHANBE, October 6, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 27,965 people have entered higher education institutions in Tajikistan this academic year, which is 2 percent more than it was originally planned, Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov announced at a news conference in Dushanbe today.
According to him, 79 percent of the overall number of people that have entered universities this year are full-time students and the remaining 21 percent are correspondence students.
The minister noted that the number of correspondence students has been reduced by 30 percent this year.
Last year, 27,381 people entered higher education institutions in the country.
