DUSHANBE, October 5, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The permanent commission for defense and security matters at the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will meet in Belarus on October 6-7, according to the CSTO Secretariat press service.
The main objective of the session is in studying the current military-political situation in the Eastern European region of the collective security.
Heads of the Belarusian ministries of defense and interior, committee for national security, border and customs services will report to MPs from the CSTO member nations. Members of the CSTO PA will also visit the Military Academy, Chief Staff of the Air Force and Air Defense Force as well as one of military units of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
The CSTO PA permanent commission for defense and security holds the assizes already for the third time. In 2007 and 2008, the CSTO PA members held the assizes in the Caucasian and Central Asian regions.
