DUSHANBE, October 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Issues related to expansion of cooperation between Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) were discussed here yesterday at a meeting of the Amonatbonk officials with visiting representatives of the EBRD, Mr. Daniel Bolschun and Mr. Arthur Pogosyan, according to the Amonatbonk press service.

In the course of the talks, Mr. Bolschun Principal Banker, TFP (Trade Facilitation Program) EBRD, in particular, noted that EBRD intended to cooperate with Amonatbonk in the field microlending fto support agrarian sector.

The EBRD representatives were also interested in the current state and activities of Amonatbonk and its position in the country’s banking system.

Mr. Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov, Chairman of Amonatbonk’s Board, informed the EBRD representatives in detail about the bank’s activities, its indicators and plans for the future.  Mahmadaminov noted that to cover more population Amonatbonk would authorize its branches and agencies in the provinces to provide loans to local enterprises and population.

To get more information about Amonatbonk’s activities, the EBRD representatives plan to hold meetings with representatives of the bank’s branches within the next two-three days, the press service said.
