KHUJAND, October 7, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Over the first nine months of this year, labor migrants working in other CIS states, primarily in Russia, have remitted 393.8 million U.S. dollars to banks in the Sughd province, which is US$193.3 million, or 32.9 percent, fewer than in the same period of last year, according to the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Khujand.
In September 2009, labor migrants remitted only 59.7 million U.S. dollars to local banks, which is US$31.9 million fewer than in September 2008, the source at NBT’s branch said.
