DUSHANBE, October 12, 2009, Asia-Plus -- This year, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has reportedly sent 313 Tajik students to study at universities in the CIS states and far abroad countries.
According to the MoE department for international cooperation, the quotas have been allotted to Tajikistan within the frameworks of international cooperation and at request of Tajik MoE.
This year, the largest student quota has been allotted by the Russian Federation – 228, including 150 seats in universities, 10 seats for post-graduate students and 68 seats in vocational-technical colleges, the source noted.
“Besides, Tajik students have also been sent to Turkey, Japan, China, Pakistan, Egypt and Ukraine this year,” the source said, adding that more than 3,000 Tajik students are currently studying abroad.
The MoE has signed 14 cooperation agreements with foreign countries and international organizations this year; eight of these agreements have been signed with the CIS states.
