KHUJAND, October 16, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The Khujand-based limited liability company, Textile City, will probably receive a 2 million U.S. dollars order for cotton goods from two Russian companies, Asia-Plus has leaned from the Textile City director general Hasim Karimov.
According to him, Textile City recently signed protocols of intent with the Russian companies Diana (for US1.2 million) and Shveypromservice (for US1 million). “The enterprise will produce shirts, pants, tablecloths and cotton fabrics for them,” Karimov said, noting that those orders would allow organizing two-shift work and doubling the number of workers.
The enterprise now works in one shift five days per week. 330 people now work with the factory that now operates only at 23-25 percent of its capacity.
“To avoid possible problems with natural-gas supplies we are currently studying the possibility of making shift to alternative fuel sources, for example coals,” the director said.
