DUSHANBE, October 20, 2009, Asia-Plus -- In January-September 2009, all types of transportation have shipped some 15 million tons of cargo, which is 1.3 percent more than in the same period of last year, according to press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC).
Compared to the same period of 2008, the volume of cargo shipped by automotive transportation has increased by 5 percent, by rail transportation – by 01 percent and by air – by 4 percent.
Over the same nine-month period, more than 118 passengers have been carried by all types of Tajikistan’s transportation, which is 2 percent more than in January-September 2008.
Passenger turnover on automotive transportation and air has increased over the report period by 2 and 13 percent respectively, while the passenger turnover on the rail transportation has decreased by 4.3 percent compared to January-September 2008, the press service said.
In January-September 2009, Tajikistan had automotive communications with 28 countries.
