DUSHANBE, October 21, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The 10th session of the Tajik-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, co-chaired by Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and Russia’s Minister of Energy Sergey Shmatko, was held in Dushanbe on October 19.
The source at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) said that participation of Russian capital in implementation of a number of hydroelectricity and gas-and-oil projects in Tajikistan had been among major topics of the meeting.
The sides, in particular, considered issues related to acceleration of work on exploration and development of four oil-and-gas fields in Tajikistan and the beginning of implementation of a Tajik-Russian joint project for construction of three hydropower plants on the inner rivers of Tajikistan.
The session ended with signing of a protocol, the source said. The next 11th session of the Tajik-Russian commission for economic cooperation will be held next year in Moscow.
