DUSHANBE, November 3, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The autumn conscription campaign is nearing completion in the country.
Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon that Tajikistan has reached 93.8 percent of the autumn conscription target by November 3.
In the territorial cross section the percentages the target reached were: Gorno Badakhshan – 99 percent; Khatlon – 98.2 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 92.1 percent; Sughd – 92.3 percent; and Dushanbe – 83.3 percent.
The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
