DUSHANBE, November 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has denied reports released by some media that Tajikistan allegedly put a ban on wheat and wheat flour exports as “unfounded.”

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Narzullo Dadaboyev a spokesman for a MoA, said that the government had not put ban on grain exports.  “Moreover, Tajikistan has gathered record harvests of grain crops this year and wheat prices have reduced two or three times compared to last year that gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to realize their harvests off their own bat,” the spokesman said.

This year, Tajik farmers have planted grains, with 90 percent of them being wheat, on 462,000 hectares and produced 1.1 million tons.  In 2008, all categories of farms have planted grains on 295,000 hectares and produced some 943,000 tons of grains.
