DUSHANBE, November 10, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan now receives some 16,000 cubic meters of Uzbek natural gas per hour, according to open joint-stock company Tojiktransgaz (Tajik natural-gas distributor).
Practically the overall volume of Uzbek gas shipped to Tajikistan is currently supplied to industrial enterprises, the source said.
We will recall that Uztransgaz (Uzbek natural-gas supplier) wants Tojiktransgaz to make prepayments for gas deliveries to Tajikistan every ten days.
This year, Uzbekistan sells its natural gas to Tajikistan for US$240 per 1,000 cubic meters. Tajikistan plans to buy some 530 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan this year.
In the meantime, some 10,000 apartments in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district are provided with natural gas from the gas field in Khatlon’s Rumi district, the source noted.
