DUSHANBE, November 12, Asia-Plus -- Some 52,000 people, including 2,000 volunteers, have been working in cotton fields today, according to the grain and technical crops department within the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Cotton growers of Khatlon province have yielded 184,300 tons of cotton by November 12, which is 82.6 percent of the target. Khatlon has pledged to produce 233,000 tons of cotton this year.
Cotton growers in the northern province of Sughd have yielded some 80,000 tons of cotton by this day, which is 73.2 percent of the target. Their target is 109,000 tons.
Districts subordinate to the center have gathered more than 8,800 tons of cotton by November 12, which is 50 percent of their target. Their target is 17,800 tons.
The republic has yielded 273,200 tons of raw cotton by November 12, 2009, which comprises 78.1 percent of this year''s target that ahs been determined at 350,000 tons of raw cotton.
