DUSHANBE, November 23, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The European Commission is supporting the next project aimed at promoting enhancement of the education sector in Tajikistan, Ms. Charlotte Adrian, Charge D''Affaires, the Delegation of the European Commission in Tajikistan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, the project is aimed, first of all, at supporting reforms in the general education sector. A total cost of the project is 13.5 million U.S. dollars.
Education sector is one of main components of the European Union’s strategy for Central Asia and the European Union is actively working with the Government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Education to support initiatives in this sphere because education is of significant importance both for economic and social development of the country, Ms. Adrian noted.
