DUSHANBE, November 23, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A roundtable entailed “Ways and Perspectives for prevention of Violence against Women in Tajikistan” will take place at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on November 24.
According to the UNDP CO Tajikistan, to meeting table organizers include the Regional Office of the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, the Tajik Branch of the Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) the OSCE Office in Tajikistan and the Government of Tajikistan
The main objective of the meeting is in discussing report of the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its causes and consequences, and determining further action plan on prevention of violence against women in Tajikistan.
The meeting will be held in two sessions. Session 1 will discuss report of the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its causes and consequences, the results of the visit to Tajikistan. Besides, Yusuf Salimov, Head of the Department on Constitutional Guarantees of the Citizens Rights, President’s Executive Office, will report on response of the Tajik Government to the Report of the Special Rapporteur. Session 2 will discuss practice of implementation of the recommendations by the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its causes and consequences in other countries.
