DUSHANBE, November 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics has ranked Tajikistan sixth among the CIS state in terms of a consumer price index (CPI) for January-October 2009.

According to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics, in Tajikistan, consumer prices rose 4.7 percent in the first ten months of this year.

The highest increase in consumer prices has been reported in Ukraine – 10.1 percent. Ukraine is followed by Belarus, where consumer prices rose 8.3 percent over the report period.  In Russia, consumer prices rose 8.1 percent in ten months to November 1, 2009.

In Kazakhstan, consumer prices rose 5.1 percent, Uzbekistan – 4.2 percent, Armenia – 3.2 percent, Kyrgyzstan – 1.6 percent.  The lowest increase in consumer prices has been reported in Azerbaijan and Moldova – 1.4 percent.

The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics does not have consumer price rates for Turkmenistan in its report.

According to Tajikistan’s State Committee for Statistics, consumer prices rose 4.7 percent in ten months to November, 2009.  A 2.3 percent increase in prices of products of food industry has been reported in January-October 2009 and non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 5.8 percent over the report period.  Over the same ten-month period, prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 13.6 percent.
